Yoga in Siem Reap

For those seeking to casually attend yoga classes or continue with a practice, there are lots of yoga options in Siem Reap that are accessible to a wide range of abilities and skill levels whether you just want to a drop-in class or something more regular. Most classes offer adjustments in order to augment or lessen the degree of difficulty, and many studios let you sample different styles of yoga to find what works best for you. Each of these studios provide all the equipment you need for your yoga practice. Here are a few of our favorites yoga places in Siem Reap.

Yoga Space

After trying out various yoga classes in Siem Reap, I decided to join Yoga Space. This studio is conveniently located in the Made in Cambodia Market outside of Sugar Spa, and consists of an outdoor patio that looks out onto the market below. Not only are the staff extremely friendly, but the place has a wonderful atmosphere, positive community, and a wide variety of classes ranging from NIA (a mindfulness and conditioning practice that features a combination of dance, martial arts, and yoga and is full of free movement), Vinyasa, Body Fusion (a yoga-pilates mix), Restorative Yoga with aromatherapy, Kriya, Ayurvadic Balancing flow, Happy Hour flow, Hatha, and many more.

The schedule changes weekly, with new types of classes being added, and a host of wonderful itinerant and local teachers. Yoga Space also organizes yoga events, such as day-long retreats, dances in the jungle, ‘Vino and Vinyasa’ nights, and masterclasses every Sunday. Classes cater to beginner yogis as well as the more advanced, and each class ends with a soothing eucalyptus towel and cold lotus flower tea. The cost is $8 for a drop-in class, $35 for a 5-class pass, or $68 for a monthly membership.

Tavoos Garden and Non-profit Wellness Center

Tavoos, located just off BBU road on Smiling Circuit, offers many free yoga classes, in addition to NIA classes for a drop-in rate of $6. The space at Tavoos includes a huge open stage looking out on a peaceful garden, making for a relaxing setting for your wellness practice. There are classes offered every day of the week except Sunday and at various times, so check the website for a current schedule.

Rolok Fitness Center

Rolok Fitness Center is a peaceful and private property located down the river just before Wat Svay. You’ll feel like you are in the middle of the jungle at one of their outdoor classes in NIA, Meditation, or Vinyasa Yoga. Each class costs $5-$6 per person, and there are either yoga or NIA classes offered seven days a week and often twice a day. Vinyasa yoga is offered typically at 7 am and 6 pm every day except Saturday, and NIA is Wednesdays and Fridays at 9 am. Check the website to make sure of the schedule.

yoga in Siem Reap

There are lots of options for yoga in Siem Reap, from cheap and cheerful to resort style.

Navutu Dreams Resort and Wellness Retreat

Navutu Dreams offers a paradise-like setting hidden just outside of town down a dirt road off of Makara Street. While this is a pricier option, the atmosphere is certainly worth the money spent. A drop in class is $9, or $76 for a month of unlimited classes, plus access to a collection of gorgeous pools and discounts on food and drinks. Navutu offers Ashtanga, Vinyasa, Yin, Hatha, Restorative, and Sivananda yoga in addition to workshops and basics classes. Classes are held inside in an air-conditioned room (the only one of this list where that is true). There are 75 minute classes on weekdays at 7:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m., and on weekends at 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Seven Candles Guesthouse

Seven Candles Guesthouse on Wat Bo near Steet 20 in Siem Reap offers nightly Ashtanga yoga classes on their roof from 6 to 7:15 p.m., and you do not have to be staying at the guesthouse to attend a class. Yoga classes at Seven Candles cost $5 for visitors and $3 for those living in Siem Reap. This is a more casual and cheap option.

Blue Indigo Yoga Retreat

Blue Indigo Yoga Cottage, located just off Bakheng Road, offers not only daily classes, but also full yoga retreats and teacher training courses. The daily classes include Pranayama, Hatha, Meditation, Vinyasa, Aerial yoga, and Restorative Yin yoga at various times throughout the day. Classes cost $8 each or $35 for a 5-class pass. Make a reservation online and check the schedule on their site.

Peace Cafe

This cafe known for its peaceful jungle setting and delicious vegetarian food also offers daily yoga classes. Peace Cafe is located down River Road towards Angkor Wat, a few minutes ride from town and classes are hosted upstairs from the restaurant. There are daily classes in the morning, afternoon, and evening in the Vinyasa, Traditional Indian, and Hatha styles. Classes are $6.

This is a fairly comprehensive list of the options offered in Siem Reap at various price ranges and in different areas of town, but there are several more places that offer yoga classes (gyms, hotels, and retreat centers), if you can’t find one in the list above that suits you.
