What’s new in your neighborhood: Russian Market

Phnom Penh’s Russian Market neighborhood is constantly transforming as it continues to respond to the influx of residents in search of cheaper housing and a more relaxed atmosphere than the city center. It’s easy to miss some of the many new spots popping up, so we thought we’d do a quick round up.

Long After Dark Russian Market Phnom Penh

Long After Dark’s extensive selections of whiskey and vinyl records.

Long After Dark

Whiskey lovers, look no further. Long After Dark’s collection of over 50 whiskeys has something for every palate. Not a whiskey drinker? There’s also a full bar with unique cocktails, wines, and beer and cider on tap. The modest but expanding food menu includes burgers (both meat and vegetarian), pastas, “toastie” sandwiches, and other grilled pub fare. The lunch menu includes a variety of $5 pastas, juices, and iced coffees. Every week a different “whiskey of the week” is featured on special (you can stay up to date on that via their Facebook page).

Banh Mi & Bros (new Russian Market location)

The successful banh mi restaurant centered around the traditional Vietnamese sandwich just opened its second Phnom Penh location in Russian Market on Street 450. Advertising the “same taste, same quality, same bros” as the original, the menu still includes a range of meat options including pork, chicken, beef, and shrimp. They also offer a vegan banh mi (eggplant replaces the meat), a few curry and soup options, and desserts.

Tummy Filler Cafe & Pub  CLOSED

If you can’t decide whether you’re in the mood for traditional Khmer or Western food, Tummy Filler Cafe offers the best of both worlds. Their menu boasts Asian soups, fried rice, noodles, and Khmer classics like lok lak and amok. But it also serves up Western salads, sandwiches, pasta dishes and fish & chips. Tummy Filler opens early every day with a range of breakfast foods and specialty coffee drinks. Their bar menu includes wine, beer, and mixed drinks with a selection of unique fruity and frozen cocktails.
